Shoes, bags, clothes! One of a kind goods made just for you in Pattaya
I have been living in outskirts of Pattaya for well over a year now.
What I enjoy about living in Thailand is that I can practice circle economy, instead of monopoly pyramid economy.
As a creator and consumer, I was sick and tired of Canadian monopoly economy. I want my money to go where I choose to go. I’m a minimalist so I don’t own a lot of stuff, but when I choose to buy, I want my money to go directly to a individual. Sure they are many mass made cheap stuff out there, but I don’t care about how cheap it is or how fashionable. I want to love my stuff.
Handmade Leather Sandals
I was looking for a cobbler in Pattaya to make custom made sandals.
After searching through Pattaya bulletin board chat and what not, I couldn’t really find a cobbler although people on the chat says otherwise… (probably closed after rona). Anyways, I saw a leather shop around my bus stop in central pattaya and asked if they can make sandals, and the answer was YES!
It’s an old school looking leather shop. The owner is second generation. He told me his dad started the shop there.
I asked him to make the sandals repairable.
It’s my first leather sole sandals, as far as I remember. It was around $100 CAD.
Would I chose this handmade one over 20 cheap ones? YES.
Handmade kimono fabric bag
So I’m a kind of a girl who keeps random fabric scraps lol.
I had scraps of my grandmother’s kimono silk, after making it into a clothes. So I asked the same guy from Pattaya Shoes to make it into a bag.
He made the straps bit too short but it’s quite good! I love it. I use it whenever I wear black dress.
These are what I custom made in Bangkok with other kimono fabric.
I will update on other custom made clothes in pattaya once I take pictures.
